Yehor Maistruk chooses Kenyon: High-school breaststroke data is still speaking

Yehor Maistruk, a rising senior at Summit High School and member of Streamline Aquatics Club, has announced his verbal commitment to Kenyon College as the first publicized recruit in the Class of 2031. His high-school short-course times — 54.34 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 2:01.56 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 1:49.33 in the 200-yard individual medley — point to a breaststroke/IM specialist with two full seasons to develop before NCAA Division III racing. Kenyon finished second in the North Coast Athletic Conference and fourth at the NCAA Division III championship. The real story is not the early commitment itself, but the two-year development window and the gaps in data around long-course performance and injury risk. Strong high-school times matter, but they need to be read against the demands of college training and the technical precision required by breaststroke.
